6/ Inca
And finally the Inca; the last Native culture to settle in Paracas. They prized the nearby rocky islands for the vast quantities of bird guano that collected there, and also the access to the Pacific Ocean which was connected to the highlands of Peru, including Cuzco, via a major road, which they either made, or inherited from the Wari, or an even earlier culture.
Tambo Colorado, a major Inca sentry post and palatial structure built by Pachacutec, who oversaw the making of Machu Picchu, is part of the tour schedule of the Paracas History Museum.
A prized part of the Paracas History Museum is a Khipu, shown above. It was the knotted cord system used by the Inca to keep accounts of people, food stuffs, and other inventories in their huge confederation of states.
Other prized things include the wool and cotton helmet, shown above, worn by the Inca military, and the feather headbands, the feathers themselves having been traded from Natives deep in the Amazon jungle.
