Tambo Colorado and Apu Amaru
This tour is a full day, and takes us to the important Inca palace of Pachacutec (builder of Machu Picchu) and the mysterious 3 km long snake design, made up of 5,200 holes in the ground, of Apu Amaru (Snake Mountain.)
We depart from the Paracas History Museum at 9 am, and proceed directly to Tambo Colorado (Colourful Inn) which, being the palace, also serves as a control check point on the Inca Road from the highlands of Peru, including Cuzco, to the Pacific Coast.
Apu Amaru is a place shrouded in mystery, because even Sr. Juan Navarro, director of the Paracas History Museum does not know who made it or when. As stated, it consists of 5,200 holes in the ground, each carefully lined with stone, and forms the shape of a gigantic snake that winds up the ridge of a mountain, for 3 km (2 miles.)
